We’ll just sit & knit today. Time to work on your stranded projects and I’ll show you all my treasures from my knitting cruise. ALSO, in any of the knitting classes you can work on whatever you want. You can also come and learn the basics of knitting and purling. Or you can just get help for any project you are working on. No guarantees, but we should be able to help.

This quilt is made up of just squares (if you want to be fancy) or just a piece of fabric (more boring). A quillow is a quilt that is enveloped (turned inside out, so no binding) and it can be folded into “pillow” sized quilt and stuffed into a “pillow” case fixed to the quilt. Voila! A pillow that can be transformed into a quilt, as needed. Great to take on trips, to school functions, for kids and movie night. Simple, easy, and some minimal machine quilting on your home machine. You should be able to get the entire quilt finished in class, AND you should be able to get started on the (minimal) machine quilting. Great for gifts.
Saturday May 30, 10:30-4, $35, (one time cost) Barb Boyer
Bring your machine, your t-shirts and we will look for coordinating fabrics for sashings and borders (if you don't already have them) and then you can start to sew your quilt together. Some math might be involvd, and that's where I come in. I will help you design your quilt, placing the t-shirts where you want them (even if they are different sizes).
Thursday June 4, 10:30-4:00, $10, Barb Boyer
How many quilts do you have that still need bindings? The workshop is designed so that you can 1) trim your quilts, 2) make your bindings, and 3) sew your bindings onto your quilt. Sometimes you just need the extra space to get it done. Sometimes you need a little push and some dedicated, uninterrupted time, and sometimes you need a question or two answered. This workshop is not designed to teach you how to put your bindings on, but we’ll be around to help answer questions and do a little coaching when you get stuck.

We’ll just sit & knit today—unless I come up with a new thing for you to try. We’ll discuss options in earlier classes. Otherwise, it’s time to work on your stranded projects or your felting projects. ALSO, in any of the knitting classes you can work on whatever you want. You can also come and learn the basics of knitting and purling. Or you can just get help for any project you are working on. No guarantees, but we should be able to help.

This strip pieced quilt uses 12-13 fat quarters (or more if you want to mix in more colors), to make a bold modern zig zag style quilt. We added a border to grow the size a little. Great quilt for a quick gift.

For several years we’ve been doing 6 quilts from one book. This year we will do 4 quilts, because the quilts have more pieces and will take a little longer to construct. BUT we wil put on the schedule 6 quilts from the book, Stashtactic II by Doug Leko. The deal will be: Choose any 4 quilts, from the 6 we will offer, and pay $135—get one free. So the schedule will show 4 quilts, one every 3rd month. And then, we will drop an extra 2 quilts into the schedule at random. Just because. The third quilt is Woven Stars
Saturday July 23, 10:30-4:00, $45, Jean Korber
Find your favorite panel and turn it into a bag! The pattern is adaptable, so any panel will work. Handles are added using grommets, and of course, Jean has figured out how to add pockets, zippered pockets and other added fun things. The panel will be quilted, which you will do in class on your own machine (easy straight line quilting). The “padding” is Soft & Stable, so the bag is both lightweight and sturdy.

Bring your fabrics and your rulers and we’ll start cutting logs for your quilt. We will also have a fabric exchange, in which the shop will also participate by donating lots of 1 ½" strips – because, yes, that is the width of the logs we’ll be using. This quilt is meant to be scrappy, and while I won’t insist that you put all your darks in a brown paper bag and all your lights in another bag, and then pull them out at randon when we sew, I will encourage you to do just that. The actual sewing class will be Sept 19, from 10:30-4, where you will learn how to properly sew and trim your log cabin blocks, and where we will discuss how to arrange the blocks when you are finished. Lots of fun patterns.

The quilt in the book is called Radiant Wreaths. Be warned, there are a lot of pieces and accuracy in cutting & sewing will be essential. Please cut your fabrics before class, following the cutting instructions in the book. Keep pieces in individual baggies and label everything. In class, I will demonstrate how to trim the “flying geese” bllocks to ensure points and seams line up properly. This quilt will look good in a variety of color schemes, including Christmas, and if you choose Christmas, you will have plenty of time to get it finished for the holidays.
